SEC Data Show IPO Proceeds Surged in the First Half of 2026

IPO counts increased, but aggregate proceeds grew much faster, while follow-on registered offerings also posted higher activity than a year earlier.

Offering documents rise in two measured streams, with proceeds growing faster than the number of market entries.

SEC statistics show 208 initial public offerings raising more than $137 billion in the first half of 2026. In the first half of 2025, 180 IPOs raised more than $27 billion.

That represents an approximately 16% increase in IPO count and a nearly 400% increase in proceeds. Aggregate fundraising therefore grew much faster than the number of offerings, but the SEC figures cited here do not show whether a small number of unusually large deals accounted for most of the increase.

Follow-on activity also increased

The SEC reported 557 follow-on registered offerings raising more than $111 billion in the first half of 2026, compared with 505 offerings raising nearly $84 billion in the first half of 2025. The number of offerings increased approximately 10%, while proceeds rose 33%.

The SEC's Division of Economic and Risk Analysis published the statistics through interactive, downloadable visualizations that include time-series charts, category charts and geographic heat maps. The comparisons establish stronger activity in the measured offering segments, but they do not identify the causes or establish a broader economic trend.
