How Svertok works

Sources & Evidence

Where Svertok gets information, which sources it prefers and what happens when the public record is incomplete.

Start with the source responsible for the fact

Government agencies, regulators, court and company records, research institutions, standards bodies and direct product documentation are usually the first stop. Each source has limits: a regulator can establish its own action, while a company release establishes what the company reported.

Credible journalism and specialist analysis can add independent context, identify missing questions or point to a record worth checking. Search results and summaries help find sources; they do not replace them.

Match each claim to what the source supports

One source does not automatically support every sentence in a story. Dates, quantities, quotations and explanations are matched to the part of the record that supports them. When a statement comes from a company, official, researcher or another interested party, the attribution stays visible.

When sources disagree, Svertok explains the difference, narrows the statement to what the evidence supports or waits for better information. Conflicting numbers are not averaged into a false answer.

Make evidence readable without republishing it

When possible, Svertok links to an official page or document that a reader can open and understand. A data feed may help confirm a detail, but readers should not have to decipher one when a clear public page is available.

An official document is not automatically free to copy in full. Svertok writes original summaries, uses limited quotations with attribution and keeps only the supporting material that can be retained responsibly.

Treat freshness as part of accuracy

Event dates, product versions, economic figures and guidance can change. Time-sensitive claims are checked against the current source and carry dates or update context where the timing matters.

If a source disappears, conflicts with another authoritative record or no longer supports a statement, Svertok updates the story, adds context or removes the unsupported claim from the current account. Material changes follow the Corrections policy.
