Tool

EV Charging Time & Cost Estimator

Plan a charging session from battery size, current charge, target charge, charger power and electricity rate.

A flat unbranded car charges beside energy target stacks, an incomplete time arc, and separate walnut cost discs.

Explanation

The tool estimates the battery energy needed between the current and target percentages, divides it by charger power and applies your electricity rate.

How it works

Ideal time equals estimated battery energy divided by charger power. Real charging usually takes longer because power tapers and some energy is lost.

Example

A 75 kWh battery going from 20% to 80% needs about 45 kWh; at 11 kW the ideal time is 4.1 hours, and at $0.20/kWh the energy costs about $9.00.

Limitations

  • Does not model charging losses or power taper.
  • Does not include session, parking or demand fees.
  • Use the vehicle and charger limits for a real trip plan.
