Explanation

The calculator scales the amount by the ratio between the selected July Consumer Price Index readings.

How it works

Uses official not-seasonally-adjusted CPI-U, U.S. city average, all items, July readings published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. It is a broad price-level comparison, not a personal cost-of-living measure.

Example

$100 in July 2020 is equivalent to about $128.88 in July 2026 using CPI-U readings of 259.101 and 333.918.

Limitations

  • Supports July readings for 2020–2026 only.
  • A national all-items index will not match every household or region.
  • CPI data can be revised or expanded; source date should be checked before reuse.

Privacy note

The amount and years stay in your browser. No query is sent to BLS or Svertok.
