Prabal Gurung's Spring 2027 Runway Took Shape Through Coordinated Craft
The CFDA's backstage account follows the dressmakers, hairstylists and other specialists whose simultaneous work turned one design vision into a finished show.

Prabal Gurung's Spring/Summer 2027 show came together through tightly coordinated work behind the runway, according to a CFDA account of the preparations. As models were readied, teams styled hair, finished garments and checked details at the same time, turning separate tasks into a single presentation.
One scene made that interdependence visible: two people supported a hairstylist adjusting a model's hair, one holding hairspray and another a brush. Elsewhere, a dressmaker refined the seams of a long red dress while two couturiers held the garment in place.
The labor inside the finished image
Those small exchanges explain why backstage craft matters to the clothes audiences eventually see. A designer may set the creative direction, but the runway result also depends on studio and production teams, stylists, casting directors, makeup artists, hairstylists and coordinators.
The account is part of the CFDA's Behind the Seams series, which covers the people, process, emotion, craftsmanship and labor surrounding New York Fashion Week. Here, its most useful observation is concrete: Gurung's singular runway vision required many specialists to work in rhythm before the first look appeared.
