OpenAI added a higher-capacity seat to ChatGPT Business
The August 10 announcement listed Premium at $100 per user per month when billed annually and Standard at $20, with Premium offering five times the usage.

On August 10, 2026, OpenAI announced a Premium seat inside ChatGPT Business. The page priced it at $125 per user per month, or $100 per user per month when billed annually, with five times the usage of a Standard seat; Standard pricing was $25 per user per month, or $20 per user per month when billed annually. OpenAI updated the page on August 25 to say Premium seats were available.
OpenAI said Premium removed the five-hour usage limit and offered five times the usage of Standard. The announcement presented that added capacity as room for larger projects and fewer interruptions.
The announcement did not require a company to upgrade everyone. Workspace owners could mix seat types, move Premium access between teammates and manage billing and spend limits in one place. That made the option most relevant to a few consistently heavy users rather than an entire office.
The decision belongs at the level of the user and task
Start with the people who repeatedly reach the Standard limit while doing approved work, then compare the extra capacity with completed tasks and cost. Mixed seats let an owner run that comparison without upgrading the whole workspace. That keeps the purchase decision attached to actual work rather than the largest available plan.
