BMW Separates the X3 M50 Power Boost From Its New Black Package
The optional styling package arrives from December, but every X3 M50 xDrive gets the stronger 443-hp engine and quicker acceleration figures.

BMW is adding an optional Black Package to the X3 M50 xDrive from December while separately increasing the performance of every X3 M50 xDrive. The appearance package is exclusive to the M Performance model, but it is not what raises the vehicle's output.
The engine change applies across the model
The 3.0-liter straight-six engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology gains 33 kW, or 45 hp, for a total of 326 kW, or 443 hp. BMW lists a zero-to-100-km/h time of 4.4 seconds, or 4.1 seconds when measured with a one-foot rollout. The company says the engine meets the Euro 7 emissions standard.
What the Black Package adds
The package centers on appearance. It includes 22-inch black alloy wheels, black brake calipers, black M logos and black model badges. Inside, BMW expands the Alcantara trim and adds blue stitching and piping, aluminum-carbon-look trim and CraftedClarity glass applications.
BMW also plans interior changes for every X3 model from December 2026. They include a new surface ahead of the central display, revised dashboard stitching, ambient lighting for the center-console storage area and inside door handles, a redesigned glove-box opener and stainless-steel protection at the cargo sill.
The distinction matters because the styling package and the performance update share one announcement. The Black Package changes how one X3 M50 is equipped; the engine upgrade changes the specification of all X3 M50 xDrive models.
